In Which We WIP It... WIP It Good

(Okay - I kinda like the blog title structure I've got going here. I stole it from the Friends titles, which were all "The One Where..." but if it's cheesy, tell me. I probably won't change it, but you can tell me. Heh. )

In the knitting community, of which I am an enthusiastic member, we'll often have multiple "works in progress" - WIPs. And because nothing will ever surpass the brilliance of early 1980s MTV, we're going to WIP it - WIP it good, with an ongoing series of all the lovely things I have on my knitting needles at the moment!

The Abilene Pullover - I just bound off the bottom ribbing of this sweater, and am comfortable leaving it marooned on Sleeve Island (that mythical land where sweaters go when the knitter making it can't be effed to knit the sleeves) until next fall. Even though we just got eight inches of snow in Des Moines a few days ago, in my head it's spring, dammit! I don't want to knit a giant wintery pullover! I do love this pattern, and the colorwork was a good challenge. I'm re-thinking the choice to knit the whole thing in ivory, though. If I knit it again, I'll likely reverse the colors or do a navy body with ivory "trees". This will still be a lovely sweater to pull out next fall and finish off.

The Half-Moon Tee - I started this sweater a few weeks ago and I. AM. IN. LOVE. This pattern is beautiful, and I'm in love with the colors I chose for it. And I'm especially proud that I used two skeins of yarn from my yarn stash for the contrasting colors. I rarely have enough yarn on hand for the body of a sweater, so the gray yarn was purchased. This one is knitting up beautifully and I'm really liking it so far. I just started venturing into summer-weight knits last year, and I'm excited to have more in my closet.

Charade socks - this is another stash project, with yarn that I think I bought on a work trip to Atlanta at LEAST a decade ago. I have a goal to knit six pairs of socks this year, so these travel with me and get a few rows whenever I have time. I thought I'd do much more knitting at K's wrestling meets, but they are so action packed I rarely pulled them out!

Glass Houses Shawl - this is not terribly exciting, as I've just finished the first section and have just joined the second color. I've kinda stashed this one away because I thought I didn't have the mental bandwidth to join the second color and start the "stained glass window" section of the shawl. So what did I do instead? Cast on a colorwork tee shirt, which undoubtedly takes more brainpower. DERP.

So that’s a quick WIP roundup - check back soon to see if I’m making any progress on these suckers. And if I will indeed WIP it… WIP it good.
